  General Notes:

My Dad's Uncle Joe Stephens, who had homesteaded in the Mohall, North Dakota area, lived in Minot, North Daktoa. He married a girl whose maiden name was Clifford. I remember a brother of hers by the name of Tom Clifford, an attorney. Joe Stephens & -- Clifford Stephans had 4 children, Joe an attorney in the Minot area, and 3 daughters, Mary, Margaret & Midge or Midgy. Those 4 children would have been born in North Dakota between about 1906 and 1916. In the summer of 1934 Joe Stephens had been in NE Montana visiting my grandmother and parents and I rode back to Minot with him and spent a few days there and met the family. His three girls were all teachers. ¹
